Denne historien, som egentlig heter Nisserevolusjonen, stod på trykk i det aller siste nummeret av Pyton - nr 13/1996. To år etter var den også med i Serinord, en nordisk tegneserieantologi utgitt av Bladkompaniet.

Duck and cover

This is the cover of Donald Duck & Co 49/1998, celebrating the magazine's 50 year anniversary:

I had done some clean up work on various covers for Egmont earlier, so they asked me to do this cover as well.

The original cover is actually not an original at all, but a cut and paste job based on drawings by two legendary Disney artists: The nephews are drawn by Carl Barks, the Good Duck Artist himself, and Donald is taken from one of Al Taliaferro's daily strips. But the original drawing only shows Donald from the waist up, so some unnamed (and not very competent) artist drew Donald's legs.

It felt like an honor cleaning up Barks and Taliaferro, and was a really fun challenge. The biggest reward of the job was probably the chance to "fix" Donald's legs. Here's my original line art:

Later Egmont contacted me about doing a cover for their Donald Pocket Books, based on a panel from inside the book (I'm not sure, but I think it's from a comic by Giorgio Cavazzano).

If I remember correctly it was rejected by Egmont's Copenhagen office, so they chose another cover. Oh well, you can't win'em all...

Jan Petersen was the norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs at the time.

Vidkun & Benito

Vidkun & Benito are of course named after Vidkun Quisling and Benito Mussolini. NeoNazis are always a thankful subject for ridicule.

I worked for Pyton from 1990 to 1996, first as an assistant editor and later as a freelance contributor. These are my three covers.

Tore Hund

Hund is the norwegian word for dog - and Tore Hund is the name of the man who killed king Olaf II in 1030 AD. Since I share first name with the guy, I was sometimes called Tore Hund when growing up.

This story, however, has no connection to the historical Tore Hund. It's just a slightly exaggerated version of myself - with a dog face.

As is revealed in the story, this ran in the magazine Forresten, published by Jippi Comics in 1997. It was awarded the Sproing Award for best norwegian comic that year.
